Men’s Tennis Releases Spring Schedule

Gettysburg opens against Baldwin-Wallace March 10

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis program face challenges throughout the spring portion of its schedule.
 
The team opens the spring campaign with its annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, S.C. The Bullets will face five opponents in five days, beginning with defending Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) champion Baldwin-Wallace University (29-1 in 2011-12) on March 10. The following day, Gettysburg faces defending College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) champ Wheaton (Ill.) College (18-5).
 
Gettysburg tackles a new foe in Mississippi College (13-4) on March 12 followed by matches against more familiar faces Messiah College (7-6) and Lake Forest College (8-9) on March 13 and 14, respectively. The Bullets only remaining non-conference contest will take place at home against York (Pa.) College (11-8) on April 5.
 
The Centennial Conference schedule will feature five teams ranked among the top teams in the Atlantic South Regional rankings. Gettysburg will open the conference slate against Haverford College (11-8), rated eighth in the region, on March 23. The Bullets will host Muhlenberg in its first home match of the spring on March 29 before travelling to Baltimore to take on nationally-ranked and defending conference champion Johns Hopkins University (19-5) on April 2.
 
After a road trip to Dickinson College (8-8) on April 10, Gettysburg will remain at home for its next three matches against Ursinus College (12-10), Swarthmore College (14-10), and Washington College (9-8). The Bullets keep things local with short ventures to Franklin & Marshall College (8-8) and McDaniel College (7-10) on April 24 and April 27, respectively, to close the regular season.
 
The first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament is set for May 1 with the semifinals and championship slated for May 4-5.
 
Gettysburg posted an 8-8 record overall last season. The Bullets finished seventh in the conference standings with a 3-6 mark.
