MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Gettysburg College softball team's bats came alive on the third day of the Snowbird Tournament as the Bullets knocked in a combined 21 runs in victories over Mt. St. Vincent College and Becker College on Tuesday.
Gettysburg (3-2) opened with a 10-1 win over Mt. St. Vincent (3-3). Junior
Taylor Snyder struck out a career-high nine batters en route to her second consecutive victory. She allowed just three hits and one earned run.
Junior
Joy Hallfors put an end to the opening game with a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning. She finished 2-for-2 with two runs, three RBI, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch. Sophomore
Maggie Maguire drove in two runs with a single in the third inning, while junior
Katie Lang scored twice.
Freshman
Lindsey Treanor picked up her first collegiate victory in game two as the Bullets took care of Becker (1-3) 11-0. Treanor allowed just two hits while striking out five. Hallfors held the hot bat once again, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Senior
Adrienne Rahs drove in three runs, while freshmen
Ashley Iannone and
Alexa Katz each scored three runs. Katz also posted a pair of RBI in the win.
Gettysburg continues its spring break on Wednesday (March 14) with games scheduled against Montreat College and Mt. St. Vincent at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
