CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Junior Liz Baron scored two goals and assisted on another for a career-high five points to lead the Gettysburg College field hockey team to a 3-1 victory at Washington College in a Centennial Conference match-up Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Bullets (7-1, 3-0 CC) continued their best overall start since 1999 and their best start in the Centennial Conference since 2005. It was also the team's first win over Washington since 2009, as the Bullets snapped a three-game losing streak to the Shorewomen.

Senior Megan Feeg made 10 saves for Gettysburg while Stephanie Harryman stopped eight shots for Washington (4-4, 2-1 CC).

Baron struck just under two minutes into the game, scoring off a rebound. She added her team-leading seventh goal of the season with 11:01 left in the first half after accepting a pass from senior Hayward Sawers on a corner.

It remained a 2-0 game until Baron set up a goal by junior Erica Barbuto during another corner with 9:59 remaining in the game. Erin Lewns converted a penalty stroke with no time on the clock as Washington avoided the shutout.

The Shorewomen finished with a 17-15 shot advantage while Gettysburg held a 13-10 edge in corners.

Gettysburg continues its season on Thursday, when it visits Shenandoah University in a non-conference game scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
