Gettysburg rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit with a 28-point fourth quarter and overcame five turnovers to beat Susquehanna 35-24 on the road this past Saturday. Senior Kody Smith overcame a career-high three interceptions to lead the comeback, passing for 199 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 70 yards and an additional TD. Senior tailback Ted Delia and sophomore tailback Eddie Hutchins combined for 123 yards rushing for the Bullets, who entered the game leading Division III in rushing offense at 381 yards per game. Delia finished with 76 yards while Hutchins notched 65 yards and a touchdown. Senior linebacker Mark Covington made a season-high seven tackles and tied a career-best with 3.0 tackles for loss, including a sack, while freshman cornerback Brian Calatozzo and senior linebacker Dave Wald each came off the bench to make an interception. Junior linebacker Cody DiAmore led the Bullets with nine tackles.

Junior tailback Joe Rollins rushed for 223 yards while returning four kickoffs for an additional 139 yards, but McDaniel dropped a 40-21 decision to Ursinus in Westminster this past Saturday. The Green Terror never led after Ursinus scored the game's first 10 points. McDaniel pulled to within 26-21 late in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Nick Valori, but the Bears scored the final 14 points of the game. Valori completed 15-of-21 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown while senior receiver Tom Orrok made seven receptions for 53 yards. Junior linebacker Erik Klugh led all players with nine tackles for McDaniel.

LAST YEAR'S MATCHUP

In addition, senior quarterback Kody Smith ranks 47th in passing efficiency (145.67).

THE GETTYSBURG OFFENSE
After the running game stole the headlines in the first three weeks of the season, the Bullets enjoyed a balanced offensive attack in their last time out, posting just 13 more yards on the ground (212) than in the air (199). Delia has led the ground game with 89.8 yards per game and eight of the team's 18 rushing touchdowns. Smith has added 72.8 yards per game and four TDs while sophomore tailback Eddie Hutchins has also seen plenty of action, running for 46.5 yards per outing and three touchdowns. Smith has also performed well as a passer, tossing seven touchdowns, three interceptions, and 174.0 yards per game. His favorite target has been junior receiver Aden Twer, who has caught a team-high 12 passes for 52.3 yards per game and a touchdown. Senior receiver Kyle Davis and freshman wing Kevin McCarthy have caught seven balls apiece, with Davis grabbing two touchdown passes and McCarthy scoring once.

THE GETTYSBURG DEFENSE
Gettysburg's defense has also performed extremely well this season and has held its opponents to 38 points - the fewest over its first four games since the 1987 team allowed only 26 in its first four outings. The Bullets' stingy run defense has held each of its four opponents to under 100 yards and has allowed an average of just 54.5 rushing yards per game. Senior linebacker Larry DelViscio is the team leader in tackles (34) while junior linebacker Cody DiAmore has made 27, including 3.0 for loss, to go with an interception and a forced fumble. Freshman linebacker Kodie McNamara has added 23 hits. The defense has also chased opposing quarterbacks into 14 sacks, with senior defensive ends Joe Ventresca and Chris Nolan leading the way with 3.5 and 3.0, respectively. Senior defensive tackle Ben Zepnick has contributed 2.5 while senior defensive end Mark Covington has added 1.5 sacks and a team-high 6.0 tackles for loss.

THE GETTYSBURG SPECIAL TEAMS
Freshman Robby Fay continues to handle double duty on special teams as both a kicker and punter. He has converted 21-of-24 extra-points and has averaged 37.8 yards on nine punts. Junior Tommy LeNoir is coming off a big game as a punt returner in which he broke off a career-long 46-yarder, raising his season average to 12.3 on 12 attempts. Junior Freddy Caruso returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown in team's season-opening win over Misericordia.

SCOUTING MCDANIEL
McDaniel is equipped with an outstanding ball carrier in junior Joe Rollins, last year's Centennial Conference rushing champion who was named first team all-conference after gaining 1,401 yards on the season. After missing the team's season opener, he has averaged 108 yards per game over his first three outings. Rollins has also averaged 32.8 yards on six kickoff returns. The Green Terror have used two different quarterbacks, but sophomore Nick Valori has seen the majority of the snaps, throwing for five touchdowns, six interceptions, and 101.5 yards per game. Classmate Seth McFall has also thrown for 132 yards and a pair of interceptions on 14-of-28 passing. Senior receiver Tom Orrok has hauled in a team-leading 13 passes for 30.5 yards per game while junior receiver Nick O'Melia has made seven receptions for 77.5 yards per game and three touchdowns. Defensively, junior linebacker Mike Cousar leads the team with 40 tackles while junior linebacker Erik Klugh has contributed 34 stops. Junior cornerback Sean Lajoie leads the Terror with four pass breakups.
