Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Stevenson University held Gettysburg College out of the scoring column en route to a 2-0 non-conference victory at Clark Field on Wednesday night.

Gettysburg (1-1) managed to out-shoot the visitors 19-12 in the match, but Stevenson (2-0) made the most out of an early opportunity. Despite a 10-3 shot deficit in the opening half, the Mustangs converted on their first attempt of the contest as Mackenzie Calhoun looped a shot over sophomore Paige Della Badia into the back of the net at 23:42.

The Bullets posted three shots on goal to close the first half, but Stevenson goalie Allison Johnson came up with the save every time, including stopping sophomore Mary Kamovitch just before the break.

Gettysburg had a good opportunity to score early in the second period with junior Tara Crowley controlling the ball deep in the backfield, but Johnson kept the Bullets off the board with a save to her right at 52:43.

Stevenson added an insurance goal as Mandy Marston found herself in the right place at the right time. Taylor Venturino fired a point-blank shot in front of the cage that Della Badia knocked up into the air. Marston raced in on the left side to knock the ball into the back of the net in the 69th minute.

Johnson finished with six saves for Stevenson, while Della Badia posted five stops for Gettysburg.

Junior Tobi Goss, senior Lindsey Lyons, and sophomore Molly Phillips each took three shots for the hosts.

Gettysburg returns to action against Denison University at Clark Field on Saturday, Sept. 8, at noon.
