GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Liz Baron (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and freshman Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) notched two goals apiece and Gettysburg outscored Stevenson 4-0 in the second half en route to a 6-1 victory in a non-conference field hockey game Tuesday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

The Bullets (4-4) outshot Stevenson 14-7 in the second stanza to finish with a 19-15 advantage for the game.

Senior Alexis Bralow (Philadelphia, Pa./Harriton) made six saves to earn the win in goal for the Bullets.

Bralow kept the Mustangs (7-5) off the scoreboard early, when she made a pair of saves in a one-on-one less than three minutes into the contest. Coming five yards out of the cage to knock away a first shot, she followed up with a sprawling stop on the rebound.

Senior Ashleigh Guise (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) put the Bullets in front just under 10 minutes into the game. Sophomore Mari Bigley (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) delivered a pass from the left side of the arc, and from the left wing Guise drilled a shot across the goal mouth and inside the right post for her first goal of the season.

The Mustangs pulled even with 17:57 left in the opening half, when, from the middle of the box, Caitlin Dempsey sent home a straightaway shot for her team-leading 10th goal of the year. Rebecca Moreland provided the assist with a pass from the top.

Fitzgerald put the Bullets back in front with 13:18 remaining in the half, rifling home a shot from the right elbow to give her team a 2-1 lead at the break.

The Bullets struck again less than a minute into the second half, when Baron dribbled just inside the circle and blasted a hard-hit ball into the back of the cage. Then with just over 20 minutes left, junior Amanda Schlager (Mountville, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) posted her first collegiate goal, pushing in a rebound off a goalie save from the left post to make it 4-1.

Fitzgerald connected for her second goal with just over 14 minutes to go, delivering a shot inside the left post for her sixth tally of the year. Baron capped the scoring when she converted from the right wing for her fifth goal of the season.

Gabriella Brooks started in goal for Stevenson and made one save while playing the first half. Katie Cavanaugh played the next 29 minutes and was credited with two saves while letting in four goals. Katelynn DiFiore came on for the final six minutes in the cage for the Mustangs.

Gettysburg returns to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, when it hosts Swarthmore College at 1 p.m.
