BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Junior Georgia Ferguson (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) and freshman Hannah Theurer (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) each scored a pair of goals to lead the Gettysburg College women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over Bryn Mawr College on Saturday.
Gettysburg (9-1-3, 4-1-1 CC) upped its record to 21-0 all-time against Bryn Mawr (1-11, 0-6 CC). Theurer put the visitors on the board early, scoring off a pass by senior Tara Crowley (Wall, N.J./Wall) in the eighth minute. Crowley contributed to the second goal as well, finding Ferguson in the 17th minute.
Theurer notched her second goal five minutes later by lofting a shot over the keeper's head. Junior Molly Phillips (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) picked up the assist on the play.
Gettysburg took a 4-0 advantage into halftime as first-year Carly Cobbol (Brookfield, Conn./Brookefield) converted a pass by sophomore Melissa Seidner (Hamilton, N.J./Peddie School) in the 43rd minute. The play marked Cobbol's first collegiate goal.
Ferguson capped the scoring with her second tally on a penalty kick early in the second stanza. The score was her fourth of the campaign, tying her with Theurer, Phillips, and junior Brigid Behan (Newport, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) for the team lead.
Gettysburg out-shot the hosts 24-3 in the match. Bryn Mawr tallied two shots on goal with junior Paige Della Badia (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) stopping both of those attempts in the second half. Sophomore Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) played the entire first half in goal to earn the win, while junior Morgan Patullo (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) followed Della Badia for the final 14:19 between the pipes.
Gettysburg hosts McDaniel College on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
