Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior Erica Barbuto (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) scored two goals, including the go-ahead tally with 5:46 remaining, and the Gettysburg College field hockey team rallied for its fifth-straight victory with a 4-2 win at McDaniel College Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action.

The Bullets (8-5, 3-3 CC) trailed 2-0 early in the second half before embarking on a game-ending 4-0 run. It marked the second time in the last four games that Gettysburg erased a 2-0 second-half deficit; the Orange and Blue also accomplished the feat in a 4-3 win over Swarthmore on Oct. 5.

Senior Liz Baron (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added two assists for Gettysburg while classmate Alexis Bralow (Philadelphia, Pa./Harriton) made six saves.

Caila White also turned aside six shots for McDaniel (7-6, 2-4 CC).

Sarah Meszler scored six minutes into the game to put the Green Terror up 1-0, and that's how the score remained until halftime. Julie Little followed up 5:41 into the second stanza to give McDaniel its 2-0 lead.

Forty-five seconds later, Barbuto put the Bullets on the scoreboard, converting a feed from sophomore Alex Calder (Baltimore, Md./Dulaney) on a corner. Then with 25:35 showing, freshman Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) pulled Gettysburg even, finishing off a scramble in front.

Barbuto notched her team-leading 10th goal of the season and what held up as the game-winner when she redirected a hit from Baron. After Bralow made a save on a potential game-tying shot, freshman Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) provided an insurance tally with 1:03 left when she tapped in a pass from Baron for her first collegiate goal.

Gettysburg held 16-13 edge in shots and a 14-5 advantage in corners.

The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they host Muhlenberg College in a Centennial Conference game starting at 3:30 p.m.
