Volleyball Earns Sweep at Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team swept host Bryn Mawr College and Lancaster Bible College in a tri-match Tuesday evening.

The Bullets (12-10, 5-1 CC) topped Bryn Mawr 3-1 in a Centennial Conference match before downing the Chargers 3-0 in a non-conference affair.

Against Bryn Mawr (11-12, 1-5 CC), the Bullets claimed the opening set 25-16 before Bryn Mawr evened things up with a 25-23 win. But Gettysburg won going away, posting 25-20 and 25-12 victories in the third and fourth sets.

Freshman Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) led the way against the Owls with her fourth double-double of the season, tying a season-high with 13 kills to go with 11 digs. Senior Sarah Gorski (Darien, Conn./Darien) added 11 kills while sophomore Courtney Morrow (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) threw down six blocks, including three solo stuffs. Senior Lizzy Kuhn (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) contributed 28 assists and eight digs while sophomore Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) scooped 16 digs.

The Bullets downed the Chargers (11-18) by scores of 25-19, 25-9, and 25-21. Gorski totaled 11 kills once again to go with five blocks while Kuhn registered 25 assists and four aces while Miller came up with seven digs.

Gettysburg now finds itself tied with Muhlenberg for second place in the Centennial Conference standings and half game behind conference leader Franklin & Marshall (5-0). The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they visit Muhlenberg at noon and play St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. in a non-league tilt.
