Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – For the second consecutive Saturday, junior Georgia Ferguson (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) booted home two goals as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team continued its surge to the postseason with a 2-0 win at Muhlenberg College on Saturday.

With the victory, Gettysburg (11-1-3, 6-1-1 CC) clinched a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament with only two more matches remaining in the regular season. The Bullets maintained their grip on the top spot in the standings according to total points, remaining just ahead of Johns Hopkins University (12-1-1, 5-0-1 CC). The two teams meet in the regular-season finale next Saturday (Oct. 26) at Clark Field.

After setting a personal mark with two goals against Bryn Mawr College last weekend, Ferguson accounted for all the scoring in the opening 30 minutes of action at Muhlenberg. She tallied her first goal in the 13th minute, taking a pass from senior Tara Crowley (Wall, N.J./Wall) and converting a shot in the middle of the box.

Sophomore goalie Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) posted two of her five saves before Ferguson lit the lamp again in the 30th minute. The unassisted tally was the junior's team-best sixth score this fall.

Gray added a pair of saves in the final stanza to earn her seventh shutout of the season and the team's school-record tying 11th of the campaign. Gettysburg also posted 11 shutouts in 2004.

Before closing the year against the Blue Jays, Gettysburg hosts Franklin & Marshall College (4-5-3, 2-2-2 CC) on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
