GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Four players accounted for four goals and the Gettysburg College women's soccer team blanked Susquehanna University 4-0 in its final regular season non-conference match of the year Wednesday afternoon at Clark Field.
The Bullets (7-1-2) outshot the Crusaders 23-2 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior
Jill Baltz (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) gave her team all the scoring it would need when she headed in a cross from classmate
Brigid Behan (Newport, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey) in the second minute. Sophomore
Lauren Schapiro (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) gave the Bullets a 2-0 halftime lead when she blasted in a shot from 35 yards out in the 43rd minute.
Gettysburg padded its lead with two more goals in the final 13 minutes. With 12:38 remaining, sophomore
Melissa Seidner (Hamilton, N.J./Peddie School) connected from the left post off a dish from Schapiro. Then with 8:15 showing, freshman
Hannah Theurer (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) converted from the same spot, with junior
Tara Crowley (Wall, N.J./Wall) providing the assist.
Sophomore
Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) did not have to make a save to earn the victory in goal while playing the opening 75:48. Junior
Paige Della Badia (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) came on for the final 14:12.
Rachel Norbuts played the first half in goal for Susquehanna (1-8-1) and made three saves while Jordyn Slocum stopped five shots in the second stanza.
Gettysburg return to Centennial Conference action on Saturday, when it visits Swarthmore College at 3 p.m.
