CARLISLE, Pa. – Sophomore Emily Hall (Reston, Va./Flint Hill School) blasted a three-run home run in the sixth inning of game two to help Gettysburg College earn a 3-0 victory and salvage a split in a Centennial Conference doubleheader at Dickinson College on Tuesday night.

Dickinson (9-11, 2-4 CC) scored the game-winning run with two outs in the seventh inning to pick up a 5-4 victory in the opener against Gettysburg (12-10, 4-2 CC). The Red Devils took the lead with a run in the opening inning before the visitors tacked on four runs combined in the third and fourth frames. Sophomore Melissa Tighe (Little Falls, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic Academy) brought in the first run for Gettysburg with an RBI triple, while junior Brooke Kalman (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) and sophomore Alexa Katz (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) posted a pair of run-scoring singles as part of a three-run fourth.

Dickinson closed the gap with three doubles and two runs in the fourth inning. Denise Haines tied the game 4-4 with a solo homer in the sixth.

After a pair of groundouts to start the final frame, the hosts picked up a single by Casey Ditzler followed by a walk to Grace Edelson. Melissa Osborn completed the rally with a single to bring home Ditzler for the game-winning run.

Chelsea Homa (5-5) earned the decision for the Red Devils after allowing just one earned run on seven hits and a walk, while striking out nine.

Senior Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and Kalman each tallied two hits in the opener for Gettysburg. The two hits for Hallfors were her only base knocks on the day, but they left the senior just two hits shy of Heather Sagaities '08 (168 hits) for second on Gettysburg's all-time list and eight shy of the school record.

The Bullets rebounded in the nightcap as freshman Michelle Fox (Newton, N.J./Blair Academy) picked up her first collegiate shutout, scattering six hits over seven innings and striking out one.  Dickinson's biggest threat came in the third when runners were stationed on second and third with one out. Fox came through with a pair of groundouts to get out of the jam.

After stranding runners in four consecutive innings, Gettysburg finally cashed in to start the sixth inning. Freshman Steph Zengel (High Bridge, N.J./North Hunterdon) drew a walk to lead off the frame and junior Maggie Maguire (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) followed with a single. Hall stepped up to the dish and blasted her second home run of the season to straightaway center.

Fox retired the side in the sixth and then started a double play in the seventh to complete the victory.

Hall went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Tighe picked up three hits and a stolen base for Gettysburg.

Gettysburg returns to action with a non-conference doubleheader against Elizabethtown College at Bobby Jones Field on Thursday, April 4, at 3 p.m.
