Box Score
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Molly Phillips (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) scored the game's only goal and the Gettysburg College women's soccer team stayed undefeated, winning 1-0 at Catholic University in a non-conference affair Thursday evening.
The start of the match was delayed by over two hours due to lightning.
The Bullets, playing their first road match of the year, improved to 4-0-1 while the Cardinals, ranked ninth in the region, slipped to 3-2.
In the fourth minute Phillips scored her third goal of the season when, on the first shot of the night, she connected from the top of the box after accepting a cross from junior Georgia Ferguson (Bethel, Conn./Bethel).
The Gettysburg defense made the goal stand up, limiting Catholic to just three shots – a season low for a Bullet opponent. Sophomore Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) made two saves for her second shutout of the year.
The Bullets finished with advantages in shots (10-3) and corner kicks (3-0). Lexi Halperin made two saves for the Cardinals.
Gettysburg plays its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday, when it hosts Ursinus College at 7 p.m.
