Box Score
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Noah Sheetz-Ziegel (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) did not have a point heading into Saturday's Centennial Conference matchup with Haverford College, but would be the lone scorer for Gettysburg in their 2-1 win.
After a scoreless first half, Haverford opened the scoring with a 49th minute goal from Onar Yousefi as he put home a one timer to the far post to put the Fords on top.
The Bullets got on the board in the 53rd minute when junior Kyle Franks (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) played a ball to Sheetz-Zeigel at the top right corner of the box. Sheetz-Ziegel sent a chip shot over the head of the keeper to the far post and the ball dropped in to tie the game at one.
With the Bullets pinned deep in their own end, a seemingly harmless long ball was played out of the back. The Haverford keeper was forced off of his line to play the ball, which ended up bouncing right on to Sheetz-Ziegel's foot just outside the top of the box. The sophomore did just what he had done before, as he lofted a high arcing shot just under the cross bar for his second goal of the afternoon and the eventual game winner.
With the win the Bullets improve to 2-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Haverford falls to 6-2 and 1-1 in conference.
Senior Connor Darrell (Cream Ridge, N.J./Allentown) made a game high six saves on the afternoon.
The Bullets return to Clark Field for their third straight home match to take on Johns Hopkins University in another Centennial Conference outing Wednesday at 7 p.m.
