GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Molly Phillips (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) scored on a penalty kick in the 80th minute and the Gettysburg College women's soccer team earned its third-straight victory, blanking Swarthmore College 1-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) match Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Bullets (7-3-1, 3-0-1) picked up their third consecutive victory – all of which have been shutouts. Gettysburg has now posted a shutout in all seven of its wins this season.
 
Swarthmore (7-4, 2-3 CC) was whistled for a foul inside the box during a Gettysburg corner kick, setting up Phillips' big shot. It was her second career penalty-kick goal and her first since the team's 2-1 victory over Grove City College in last year's season opener.
 
The Bullets outshot the Garnet 10-6, but neither side generated many scoring opportunities in the first half, with each side taking just two shots apiece. The best look for either came in the closing seconds, when senior Brigid Behan (Newport, R.I./Portsmouth Academy) ripped a shot across the box just wide of the right post.
 
Gettysburg picked up its offense in the second half, firing off eight shots. Swarthmore keeper Caela Long kept the Bullets off the scoreboard by making both of her saves early in the stanza before Phillips' game-winner.
 
Junior Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) posted both of her saves over the final 13 minutes to nail down her sixth shutout of the season and the 22nd of her career, as she moved into sole possession of third in school history. She also pulled into a tie with Allie Rivera '12 on Gettysburg's all-time goalie wins list with the 31st victory of her career.
 
The Bullets continue their three-game homestand on Wednesday, when they host Dickinson College at 7 p.m.
