Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Eleven players found the back of the net for the sixth-ranked Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team in a 17-5 victory at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (9-1, 4-0 CC) dominated from start-to-finish in picking up its 26-straight win over a Centennial Conference opponent. The Bullets committed a season-low four turnovers and held Swarthmore (6-4, 1-3 CC) to just 10 shot attempts.
The rout was on early as senior
Loren Pruitt (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) scored on Gettysburg's opening possession. Junior
Bridget Kenny (Gladstone, N.J./Bernards) and senior
Bailey Beardsley (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa./Francis Scott Key (Md.)) also scored to make it 3-0 less than four minutes into the game.
After Corinne Sommi scored Swarthmore's first goal at 25:34, Gettysburg would turn in eight of the final nine goals of the first half. Pruitt had a hand in four of the goals, including the final tally of the period to make it 11-2.
The Garnet scored the first two goals of the final stanza before a four-goal run by the Bullets, including the first three by senior
Kelsey Markiewicz (Taconic, Conn./Berkshire School (Mass.)). Freshman
Emma Christie's (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) first collegiate goal would set the score with eight minutes to play.
Markiewicz paced the offense with three goals and two assists. Pruitt tallied four goals and one helper, while Beardsley posted two goals and one assist. Eight different players accounted for the remaining tallies, including the first career goals for freshmen
Emily Scullin (Newtown Square, Pa./Great Valley) and
Tess Anderson (Brookline, Mass./Beaver Country Day School).
Junior
Gretchen Boehmcke (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) led the defense with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. All three Gettysburg goalies saw time in the cage with freshman
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) earning the win after making one save in the opening half.
Gettysburg hosts McDaniel College on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
