Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – Misericordia University jumped out to a 4-0 first-half lead and the ninth-ranked Cougars defeated the Gettysburg College women's soccer team by a final of 5-1 in a non-conference match on Monday evening.
The match was originally scheduled to be played on Sept. 6 but was postponed due to impending inclement weather.
Meghan Antrim scored two goals for Misericordia (7-2) while Amber Hartranft posted one goal and two assists. Jacqueline Stevens also handed out a pair of assists.
Freshman
Maddie Heaney (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) scored in the final minute for the Bullets, striking 19 seconds before the horn.
Antrim put the Cougars up 1-0 in the 13th minute before Hartranft scored 11 minutes later. The hosts widened the gap with two more goals less than two minutes apart late in the stanza, with Antrim and Nicole Palaza scoring to give their team its four-goal halftime advantage.
Megan Maloney extended Misericordia's lead when she scored in the 53rd minute. It would remain a 5-0 match until Heaney broke up the shutout with her third goal of the season.
The Cougars held a 9-3 shot advantage in the first half but the Bullets owned a 7-6 edge in the second period.
Junior
Eliza Gray (West Orange, N.J./Columbia) went the distance in goal for Gettysburg and made four saves. Maureen Ciccosanti started in net for Misericordia and made one stop over the opening 57 minutes before Alyssa Pojero collected four saves the rest of the way.
The Bullets return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Susquehanna University for a 7 p.m. start in Gettysburg's final regular-season non-conference match of the year.
