Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Victoria Umbach (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied her first career hat trick as Gettysburg College blew past visiting Bryn Mawr College 10-0 in Centennial Conference field hockey action at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

Gettysburg (7-8, 3-5 CC) did most of its damage in the first half, firing off 27 shots and forcing a dozen penalty corners. Junior Samantha Wright (Darien, Conn./Darien) dished out assists on two of the first three goals, finding junior Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) for the opener at 6:18 and then hooking up with Umbach at 14:17. Junior Hannah Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) turned in an unassisted tally at 11:01.

Umbach slapped in her second goal following a feed from senior defender Christina Wright (Kingsville, Md./Fallston) at 17:26. Wright jumped into the scoring column for the first time in her career shortly after with a blast from just inside the arc to set the score at 5-0.

Sophomore Clare Nolan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Winston Churchill (Md.)) and senior Kim Engelhart (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) accounted for the final three goals of the first period. Engelhart found Nolan for the sophomore's first goal at 28:20 before tossing in a goal just three minutes later. Nolan returned the favor to the senior with a tip pass to the left which Engelhart slapped home 23 seconds after the previous tally.

Nolan capped her day with another goal in the 41st minute and Umbach finished off her hat trick after receiving a pass from junior Catherine Towers (Midlothian, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) in the 58th minute.

Spohomore Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) and junior Ronnie Bridges (Kingsville, Md./Notre Dame Prep) each played one half without seeing a shot.
