Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg threatened in the game's closing seconds, but Haverford College made a defensive save with no time on the clock to seal a 1-0 Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey victory over the Bullets Saturday afternoon at a cold and wet Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
The Bullets (3-6, 0-4 CC) were awarded a penalty corner just before the horn, earning one final shot at the goal. Sophomore

Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) and blasted a shot past the Haverford goalie, but Allison Martin backed up the play with a game-clinching defensive save for the Fords (7-2, 3-0 CC).
Gettysburg held a 4-2 edge in shots in the opening half, but Haverford turned up the pressure at the start of the second period, taking the first seven shots of the stanza. Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern), but Elena Veale collected the loose ball at the left wing and sent home a shot into the upper-right corner of the cage.
The Bullets heated up down the stretch, taking all five of their second-half shots in the final seven minutes. But Ford keeper Lindsey Lopes made a pair of late saves before Martin's big stop at the finish.
Mowery finished with five saves while Lopes turned aside four shots.
Haverford held slim margins in shots (10-9) and corners (7-5).
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, when it visits 20th-ranked Messiah College at 7 p.m.
