Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – Seniors
Mandy Buell (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and
Bridget Kenny (Gladstone, N.J./Bernards) combined for nine goals to lift No. 1 Gettysburg College past No. 18 Ithaca College 12-6 at the National Training Center on Monday.
Newly labeled as the top team in the nation, Gettysburg (3-0) put any thoughts about an upset to rest early with a 6-0 run late in the first half. Buell led the way with four goals and one assist, while Kenny contributed five goals and one helper in the game.
The Bombers etched the first line on the scoreboard as Emily Peters scored at 26:57. Just 40 seconds later, freshman
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) tied the score with an unassisted tally.
Kenny added two more goals to put the Bullets in front for good. Ithaca cut the deficit to 3-2 with a goal at 15:02, but Kenny answered off a feed by Landry to kick off the six-goal spurt. Gettysburg went into the break with an 8-3 lead.
Ithaca scored the first goal of the final period. Buell retaliated just two minutes later and Gettysburg's defense held the Bombers without a goal for nearly 18 minutes. Buell's fourth and final tally made it 11-4 with 7:22 left.
Kenny corralled six draw controls and moved past Amy Farrell '04 for second place on Gettysburg's all-time list with 215. She only trails Megan Murphy '03 who procured 272 draw controls during her tenure.
Landry finished the evening with two goals and three assists. Junior
Samantha Aiello (Sparks, Md./Maryvale Prep) dished out a trio of assists.

Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) stopped five shots in the victory. Junior
Emily Tropsa (Darien, Conn./Darien) picked up two ground balls and three caused turnovers, while senior
Allie Clark (Wynnewood, Pa./Episcopal Academy) scooped three ground balls.
Gettysburg closes its trip south against SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m.
