Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team is rolling. Ursinus College was the latest opponent to suffer as the eighth-ranked Bullets tied a season high for goals in a 20-2 victory in a Centennial Conference match up at Clark Field Saturday.
Gettysburg (11-2, 5-1 CC) has won its last five conference outings by at least 10 goals and the squad has posted 20 tallies in each of the last two contests. Ten different Bullets reached the scoring column against Ursins (4-9, 2-3 CC) with senior
Mandy Buell (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) torching the net for five goals to go with a pair of assists. Junior
Maggie Connolly (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) added four goals, while senior
Bridget Kenny (Gladstone, N.J./Bernards) tossed in three goals and one assist.
The hosts put the visitors on their heels early with four goals in the first 2:37. Kenny tossed in the first two before Buell went to work with a pair. Amy Kohout notched two of the next three goals in the game to pull Ursinus to 5-2 with 23:17 left in the first half.
The Bears would come up empty for the remainder of the game, marking the second time in three contests the Bullets have held an opponent scoreless for an entire half. Sophomore goalie
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) stymied six shot attempts in her 44 minutes of action.
Gettysburg tallied the final 15 goals of the game, including a 7-0 run to end the first period. Junior
Samantha Aiello (Sparks, Md./Maryvale Prep) made it a double-figure advantage (12-2) with a goal 33 seconds before halftime.
Connolly turned in three scores to open the second period. Sophomore
Caroline Jaeger (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) scored her first collegiate goal at 17:11 and added an assist on another score by sophomore
Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) which made it 19-2 with 11:52 remaining.
Gettysburg held Ursinus to just one shot in the second half. The Bullets out-shot the Bears 27-9 and won 16-of-24 draw controls.
Freshman
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) posted two goals and three assists, while junior
Abby Baigelman (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) managed one goal and one assist. Kenny paced the team in the draw circle with a season-high eight draw controls. Senior
Allie Clark (Wynnewood, Pa./Episcopal) tallied three ground balls and one caused turnover.
Gettysburg hosts Washington College (8-3, 4-1 CC) next Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m.
