Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College scored three of the final four points in the decisive fifth set to top visiting Gettysburg College 3-2 in a Centennial Conference volleyball match on Saturday.
Washington (10-5, 1-1 CC) won the opening set 25-20 before Gettysburg (8-7, 1-1 CC) took the next two 25-15 and 25-20. The Bullets were just two points away from closing out the win in the fourth set, but the Shorewomen rallied for the final three points to win 25-23. In the fifth frame, the visitors rallied from a 12-7 deficit with five-straight points. Washington came back with a pair of kills and after Gettysburg pulled to 14-13, the hosts put the match to rest with a kill by Jess Daunoras.
Junior
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) posted her third 20-kill effort of the season, finishing with 23. Bergin posted 71 attack attempts in the match – the most by a Bullet since statistics were digitized in 2002. Senior
Courtney Morrow (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) and
Maddie Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) each tallied seven kills.

Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) recorded a career-high 27 digs and tied a personal mark with five aces. Senior
Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) contributed 18 digs and sophomore setter
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) added 16 digs and a season-high 43 assists.
Kristin Lee paced Washington with 23 digs and Taylor Horan totaled 44 assists and 12 digs.
Gettysburg hosts Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
