Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior
Lauren Schapiro (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) scored off an assist from classmate
Melissa Seidner (Hamilton, N.J./Peddie School) in the 16th minute, lifting the Gettysburg College women's soccer team to a 1-0 Centennial Conference victory at Washington College Saturday afternoon.
The Bullets (4-1-2, 1-1 CC) allowed just one shot while earning their sixth shutout in seven matches this season.
Schapiro and Seidner connected for a give-and-go in transition, and it proved to be more than enough offense for Gettysburg's stifling defense, which did not allow a shot attempt for the final 86 minutes.
Gettysburg outshot Washington 4-1 in the first half and 4-0 in the second stanza, but goalie Melissa Barry made one save in each period for the Shorewomen (2-4-1, 0-2 CC).
Senior
Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) did not need to make a save to earn her fifth clean sheet of the year for the Bullets.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule on Wednesday, when it hosts Frostburg State University at 4 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
