Mari Bigley '16 scored her first goal of the season against Stevenson.
Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Stevenson University scored the final two goals, including the game-winner with 1:28 left to slip by Gettysburg College 3-2 in a non-conference field hockey match up Wednesday at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

Stevenson (4-6) took the early advantage as Rosemarie Neiva knocked home a bouncing baseline pass from Sara McVey in the 14th minute. Gettysburg (3-5) came right back at the Mustang goal with five shots and three penalty corners in the next seven minutes. The Bullets struck pay-dirt following a penalty corner as the loose ball was lined to the back of the cage by sophomore Lily Neibart (Morristown, N.J./Pingry) at 20:19.

With the score tied coming out of halftime, the hosts pressed the advantage in the opening minutes of the final stanza. Sophomore Casey Eck (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) set up Gettysburg's next goal with a pass to senior Mari Bigley (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) off the penalty corner. Bigley slammed the ball into the cage for her first score of the season to make it 2-1 at 46:48.

Stevenson, which was out-shot 22-12 in the contest, turned the tide in the final minutes. Sophomore goalie Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) stopped an initial strike by Marissa Hoffman in the 60th minute, but the loose ball made its way to Katelyn Byram who connected on a hard shot at the goal. The ball was redirected by Neiva into the cage for the equalizer at 59:55.

With less than two minutes remaining, the Mustangs broke down the field with Neiva corralling the ball on the right side. She centered a pass in front of the cage and Alexis Young was able to tap it up and over a charging Mowery for the game winner.

Mowery finished with five saves, while her counterpart in the Stevenson goal, Talia Parish, managed 10 stops. Junior Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and sophomore Lindsay Kraus (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll School) each posted four shots for Gettysburg.

Gettysburg hosts Haverford College on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m.
