The Crusaders came right back with a goal by Malorie McCoy two minutes later. McCoy's second score in the 10th minute held up as the game-winner and gave the hosts a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Four different players hit the scoring column for Alvernia in the second half.
The Crusaders held the Bullets to a season-low five shots, while taking 20. The hosts also held a 10-8 edge in penalty corners.
