GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Henry Smith (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) scored the game-winning goal and broke into Gettysburg's career top-10 list for points, leading the Gettysburg College men's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Susquehanna University Wednesday evening at Clark Field.

Just like the team's victory at Susquehanna last season, the Bullets (7-3-1) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to register a 2-1 win, with Smith scoring the game-winner. A year ago, Gettysburg recorded an overtime victory in Selinsgrove.

The Bullets (7-3-1) controlled play throughout the match, outshooting the River Hawks 18-4. Gettysburg has now outshot its opponents in nine of its 11 games this season.

Smith's goal pushed his career points total to 57, placing him in a three-way tie with Geoff Menge '10 (22 goals, 13 assists) and Matt Holmes '96 (18 goals, 21 assists) for ninth all-time at Gettysburg. Smith has scored 19 goals and handed out 19 assists for his career, and he also ranks seventh in school history in assists.

Gettysburg used three goalies on the evening. Junior
Max Karen (Huntington, N.Y./Elwood-John Glenn) started and played the opening 56 minutes, making three saves. Senior
Peter Como (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and junior
Alex Nestor (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) played the rest of the way between the pipes, but neither faced a shot on goal.

Matt Ellingworth made five saves for Susquehanna (5-7-2). Â

The River Hawks struck in the 10th minute, when Jake Heyser collected a loose ball following a goalie deflection and buried a shot from the top of the box.

Gettysburg threatened throughout the half, outshooting Susquehanna 9-4, but was denied on a pair excellent scoring chances.. Just four minutes into the match, Smith unloaded a free kick from the top of the box but Ellingworth was there for the save. Later in the period, junior
Patrick Santini (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) broke free inside the box, but his laser of a shot was hauled in by a leaping Ellingworth.

The Bullets got on the scoreboard in the 40th minute, when junior
Matt Stine (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) cashed in for his second goal of the season. Classmate
Justin Wigley (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) started the play with a cross from the right, and Stine accepted the pass on the left side of the box. He then drilled a shot inside the far post, giving Wigley the assist and the first point of his career.

Smith nearly put the Bullets ahead in the 59th minute, but a well-struck header was snatched out of the air by Ellingworth.

Smith would have the final say, however, when he potted the game-winner in the 66th minute. Coming out of a restart, Smith dribbled into the box and rifled a shot from the right that deflected off Elingworth and into the net.

Gettysburg would outshoot Susquehanna 9-0 in the second half.

The Bullets continue their five-game homestand on Saturday, when they host Dickinson College at 7 p.m. in a Centennial Conference match.
