Kiera Loftus (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) made a career-high 11 saves, but the Gettysburg College women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at 16th-ranked Johns Hopkins University in its regular-season finale and a Centennial Conference (CC) match on Saturday.
The Bullets (8-7-1, 4-4-1 CC) conclude the regular season in fifth place in the Centennial Conference standings and will now visit fourth-seeded Haverford College in the conference first-round match on Wednesday at a time to be announced.
Loftus shut out the Blue Jays (13-2-2, 8-1 CC) while making seven saves in the first half, when she faced a 12-shot attack. Gettysburg was limited to a pair of shots in the opening period, and Hopkins goalie Clara Aranguren stopped Gettysburg's lone shot on goal.
The hosts broke through in the second period, when four different players found the back of the net. The Jays scored twice in the opening eight minutes of the half and added two more tallies over an eight-minute stretch midway through the half.
Hopkins outshot the Bullets 9-3 in the second half, when Loftus made four more stops and Aranguren turned aside all three Gettysburg shots on goal to earn a shutout.
