ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College softball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to a close with a pair of non-conference losses at Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday.

Gettysburg (20-6), which stranded 18 runners in the doubleheader, dropped an 8-3 decision in the opener before falling in the nightcap 6-2.

Trailing 2-0, Gettysburg began the sixth inning of the first game with three-straight singles by senior Meghan Hisgen (East Northport, N.Y./Commack), freshman Meredith Taylor (Hamilton, N.J./Northern Burlington), and junior Sam Misurell (Franklin Park, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) to load the bases with no outs.

Freshman Sara Braungard (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter Strasburg) stepped up as a pinch-hitter and smacked a single to drive in two runs. Junior Jessica Casale (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) followed with a sacrifice fly to left field to put Gettysburg in front 3-2.

Lebanon Valley (13-9) scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead, including two on a single by Cheyanne Brown and three on a home run by Emily Johnson.

Taylor finished 3-for-3, while sophomore Mykaela Twitchell (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) posted a pair of hits.

Junior Jamie Abell (Glenn Dale, Md./Elizabeth Seton) led off game two with a triple to right field, but she was left stranded on third, the first of 10 runners left on base by the Bullets. The Dutchmen posted three runs in the third before Abell put the visitors on the board with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Lebanon Valley added three more runs in the fifth before Gettysburg picked up its final run on a double by sophomore Stephanie Leonardo (East Haddam, conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) in the top of the sixth.

Abell finished a single shy of the cycle with a 3-for-4 hitting performance.

Gettysburg returns to Centennial Conference play with a doubleheader at Washington College on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
