Carol Cantele's 350th career win at the school with a 19-3 victory over McDaniel College Wednesday at Clark Field.
Gettysburg (11-1, 5-0 CC) dominated from the outset as senior
Amanda Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) scored off the opening draw 14 seconds into the game. Borucki and sophomore
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) had a hand in each of the Bullets' first six goals, the former posting two goals and one assist and the latter logging two goals and three assists.
McDaniel (5-7, 2-3 CC) had trouble maintaining control of the ball as Gettysburg's constant pressure forced turnovers on each of the visitor's first four possessions. The Bullets kept the heat on offensively with Landry racking up four goals and four assists in the first half alone.
Gettysburg walked into the break with a 13-0 lead following freshman
Steph Colson's (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) first collegiate score and the first of sophomore
Maggie McClain's (Wexford, Pa./Sewickley Academy) three goals.
The Bullets tacked on two more goals, including freshman
Emma Hill's (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin) first career tally, before the Green Terror reached the scoreboard on a goal by Sam Barbeito with 18:34 to play.
A final three-goal run by the hosts made it 19-2 with 3:56 remaining.
Gettysburg out-shot McDaniel 30-12 and finished with a 13-7 lead in ground balls. The Bullets tied a season-low with only seven turnovers and held the Green Terror to just 6-of-12 on clear attempts.
Cantele, who won her 300th game against McDaniel in 2012, improved to 350-100 in her 24th season at Gettysburg. Overall in her career, she ranks fifth among all NCAA women's lacrosse coaches with 374 career wins over 28 seasons.
Landry bested her previous personal best point total by two and stands just three points shy of 100 for her career. Senior
Abby Baigelman (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and McClain each recorded a hat trick with the latter adding one assist. Borucki, Hill, and sophomore
Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) each tossed in two goals. Sophomore
Ali Gorab (Southport, Conn./Ludlowe) finished with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
All four Gettysburg goalies saw time in the cage. Junior
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) played 19 minutes and stopped all three shots she saw on goal. Freshman
Bailey Pilder (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) logged a pair of stops in 20:17, while junior
Caroline Gordon (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and sophomore
Madison Martino (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) each tallied a save in the final 20 minutes of action.
Gettysburg travels to Ursinus College this Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
