GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Thirteen players reached the scoring column as sixth-ranked Gettysburg College celebrated Senior Day with a 17-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action at Clark Field.
Five of Gettysburg's (14-2, 8-1 CC) first six goals were scored by members of the senior class. Senior
Emily Tropsa (Darien, Conn./Darien) started the action by bouncing a ball past the Bryn Mawr (6-10, 0-9 CC) goalie 1:16 into the game.
After the Bullets went up 2-0, senior
Amanda Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) scored back-to-back tallies to reach 100 career goals. Senior
Abby Baigelman (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) scored the next goal and just 34 seconds later, classmate
Maggie Connolly (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) recorded her 100th career goal to make it 6-0 with 23:39 left in the first half.
The rest of the offensive show was dominated by the freshmen class. Nine of Gettysburg's final 11 scores were turned in by first-years with
Emma Hill (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Agnes Irwin),
Steph Colson (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley), and
Shelby Fragetta (Baltimore, Md./Towson) each tallying a pair of goals. Colson added two assists, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers, while freshman
Emily Troy (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) turned in one goal and two assists.
Senior
Caroline Gordon (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) and sophomore
Madison Martino (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) split time in goal. Gordon played the first 36:12 and recorded a career-high five saves. Martino posted one save in the remaining time.
Gettysburg wrapped up the second seed in the conference playoffs and will face Washington College (11-6, 6-3 CC) in the semifinals next Saturday, May 7, at Franklin & Marshall College.
