Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Ezekiel Omosanya (Lagos, Nigeria/Northfield Mount Hermon [Mass.]) scored off a rebound in the 87th minute, capping a thrilling finish as the Gettysburg College men's soccer team held on for a 3-2 Centennial Conference (CC) victory over Muhlenberg College Saturday evening at Clark Field.

The Bullets (5-1-1, 2-0 CC), who stretched their unbeaten streak to six games, led 2-0 midway through the second half before the Mules (2-4-2, 0-2 CC) stormed back with a pair of goals, setting up Omosanya's heroics.

Gettysburg led 1-0 at halftime after senior Henry Smith (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) drilled in a penalty kick – his second of the season – after a Muhlenberg hand ball in the box. It was also his team-leading fourth goal of the year for Smith.

The Bullets outshot the Mules 7-3 in the first half and it was a 1-0 game at the break.

Senior KJ DePontes (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) extended Gettysburg's lead in the 65th minute, slipping around a defender just inside the 18 before burying his second goal of the season.

Muhlenberg was quick to strike back, however, as Pete Luther scored in transition just 44 seconds later. Wyatt Dessel pulled the visitors even on a header following a free kick in the 76th minute.

A foul on junior Patrick Santini (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) just outside the box led to the game-winner. Smith took the ensuing free kick and smashed a well-struck ball off the crossbar. Santini raced in and flicked a diving header to the left post, where a hard-charging Omosanya drilled it into the left side of the net for his first collegiate goal.

The Bullets controlled play for the majority of the second half, when it outshot the Mules 13-3.

Alex Tomko finished with eight saves in a losing effort for Muhlenberg. Freshman Thomas Keane (Potomac, Md./Gonzaga College) did not record a save but earned the win in goal for Getthysburg.

The Bullets return to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, when they visit Johns Hopkins University at 7 p.m.
