GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg erased a 12-point second-half deficit, but Dickinson College scored the game's final six points to hand the Bullets a 73-68 setback in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Wednesday evening in Bream Gym.

The Bullets (2-5, 1-3 CC) took a 68-67 lead on a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) with 2:27 remaining. But Mike Hinckley converted a driving lay-up with 2:06 showing to put Dickinson in front for good. Bryce Allen iced the victory for the Red Devils with four free throws in the final 13 seconds.

Sophomore guard Nick Antolini (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) led the Bullets with 15 points while senior forward Matt England (Warrington, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) posted 14 points and four rebounds. Junior center Luke Cooper (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) tossed in 13 points for Gettysburg.

Allen finished with 26 points, seven assists, and five rebounds for Dickinson (5-2, 3-1 CC) while Justus Melton registered 14 points and eight rebounds.

After Hinckley's go-ahead lay-up, England missed a jumper at the other end for the Bullets and Dickinson came down with the rebound. The Red Devils worked nearly the entire shot clock before missing a jumper, but Hinckley tracked down the rebound on the baseline. Melton drew a foul driving to the bucket, but he missed the front end of a 1-and-1 and Lord rebounded for Gettysburg.

The Bullets committed a turnover with 17 seconds left and Gettysburg was forced to foul before Allen went 2-for-2 at the stripe with 13 ticks showing to make it 71-68. Antolini missed a straightaway 3-pointer with eight seconds left and the Red Devils rebounded before Allen knocked down two more foul shots to set the final score.

It was a back-and-forth game in the first half, which featured four ties and nine lead changes. Dickinson led 29-21 after a Chas Battaglia 3-pointer with 6:18 on the clock, but the Bullets used a 9-2 spurt to cut the deficit to one. Senior forward Cameron Stewart (Sydney, Australia/Newington College), playing his first game of the year after returning from injury, kicked off the spurt with a lay-up before Cooper capped it with a jumper that made it 31-30 with 3:58 left in the half.

Dickinson pushed its lead back to six before England hit a pair of free throws with 43 seconds remaining to make it a 38-34 game at the intermission.

Antolini scored 12 of his points in the opening half, when he shot 5-for-5 from the field and made both of his 3-point attempts. Allen led all players with 13 points in the period.

The Bullets trailed just 43-39 with 17:39 left, but that's when Dickinson used an 8-0 run to assume their 12-point lead. However, Gettysburg answered right back with a 7-0 run, powered by a Cooper lay-up, a Lord bucket, and an Antolini 3-pointer that made it 51-46 with 12:13 left.

Dickinson pulled away again, however, and led 65-56 with 7:34 left. But Gettysburg would rally to take the lead on a late 12-2 run. It started with a fast-break lay-up from Duffey and was followed by a bucket from Cooper. England then knocked down a triple before Cooper cut it to one (67-66) on a conventional 3-point play with 4:20 left. Neither side would score again until Lord's late free throws.

Gettysburg now takes a 10-day break from competition before hosting Catholic University in a non-conference tilt Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.
