Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich) and junior
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) combined for seven goals and three assists as sixth-ranked Gettysburg College ran past Stevenson University 16-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
After getting by No. 17 Messiah College in overtime in its opening contest, Gettysburg (2-0) took the drama out of its second affair early with a seven-goal run in the opening half. Christie accounted for all of her goals during the spurt which pushed the lead to 8-1.
Stevenson (1-2) pulled within six (10-4) on a goal by Olivia Monteiro with 27:23 left in the second half. Landry kicked off a decisive five-goal run with back-to-back tallies. Freshman
Liza Barr (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added her first two collegiate goals to push Gettysburg in front 15-4 with 10 minutes left.
Gettysburg finished with the lead in shots (28-15), ground balls (20-10), and draw controls (13-10).
Senior
Caroline Jaeger (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) turned in two goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Sophomore
Steph Colson (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) and freshman
Courtney Patterson (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) each tallied one goal and combined for nine draw controls.
Senior
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and sophomore
Bailey Pilder (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) each played a half in goal and combined for five saves.
Mackenzie Reese led Stevenson with a pair of goals, while Mack Ferguson recorded nine saves.
