GETTYSBURG, Pa.  – Senior Sam Misurell (Franklin Park, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) smashed a three-run home run to finish the opening game and Gettysburg College rallied again in its last at bat in the nightcap to complete a non-conference sweep of Lebanon Valley College at Bobby Jones Field.

Gettysburg (19-8-1) scored all of its runs in the last two innings, including Misurell's blast in the bottom of the seventh to win game one 4-1. The Bullets scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to pull off a 3-2 victory in game two against Lebanon Valley (17-9).

The home bats were held in check for most of the opening game as Flying Dutchmen hurler Madeline Abbot allowed just one hit and one walk through the first five innings of play. Lebanon Valley spotted its pitcher a 1-0 lead on a run-scoring single by Lexi Windsor in the third inning.

Gettysburg tied the game in the bottom of the sixth as junior Stephanie Leonardo (East Haddam, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) led off the inning with a single. After a sacrifice moved the pinch-runner to second base, senior Jamie Abell (Glenn Dale, Md./Elizabeth Seton) drove a single to right field to score the team's first run.

The Bullets completed the comeback in the seventh. Freshman Sarahrose Jonik (Glenmoore, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) singled to center field to start the inning and senior Genie Lavanant (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Blair Academy) also reached on a her attempted sacrifice bunt as the defense was unable to get the lead runner.

Sitting on a 0-1 count, Misurell blasted Abbot's second offering to the right of the scoreboard in left-center for her first career walk-off home run.

Junior Aileen Reilly (Huntington Station, N.Y./St. Anthony's) improved to 8-5 after allowing one earned run on five hits with two walks. Reilly struck out four and became just the third Bullet pitcher to record 300 career strikeouts.

Lebanon Valley struck first in the nightcap with a two-run double by Elaine Gross in the third inning. Gettysburg answered in the bottom of the frame with a run scoring on an error by the third baseman.

After stranding runners in the fourth and fifth innings, the Bullets punched in the tying and winning runs in the sixth. Sophomore Meredith Taylor (Hamilton, N.J./Northern Burlington) led off the inning with a double and junior Wendy Folfas (Westminster, Md./McDonogh School) reached on an error by the left fielder, which allowed runners to reach second and third.

Jonik cashed in with a sacrifice fly to left field to score the first runner. The ensuing throw into the infield was off target, allowing the second base runner to score all the way from second base for the eventual winning run.

Lebanon Valley threated in the top of the seventh as two runners reached base with two outs. However, the game ended as the lead runner was called for interference after colliding with Abell on a grounder to shortstop.

Taylor accounted for half of Gettysburg's hits, going 2-for-4 with a run. Sophomore Morgan Clauser (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) scattered nine hits and struck out six on the way to improving to 11-2.

Gettysburg visits Ursinus College this Saturday at 1 p.m.
