WESTMINSTER, Md. – Four players recorded hat tricks as third-ranked Gettysburg College opened the final week of the regular season with a 19-5 victory over McDaniel College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Gettysburg (14-2, 7-1 CC) remains tied atop the conference standings alongside Muhlenberg College (13-2, 7-1 CC) and Franklin & Marshall College (13-4, 7-1 CC). The Mules and Diplomats face off this Saturday, while the Bullets close the season with Washington College (9-5, 4-3 CC), which is battling for the final spot in the league tournament.

Caroline Jaeger (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon), juniors
Katie Willis (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and
Maggie McClain (Wexford, Pa./Sewickley Academy), and freshman
Liza Barr (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) all tossed in a trio of goals. Junior
Katie Landry (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) was one of three Bullets with a pair of goals and she dished out four assists.
Gettysburg led just 3-2 following a goal by McDaniel's (4-11, 0-8 CC) Emily Brownawell at 21:24. The Bullets reeled off five-straight goals over a five-minute span with back-to-back tallies by Barr making it 8-2 with 15:44 left in the first half.
The Green Terror gained the ball just six more times in the final 15 minutes of the opening half. Gettysburg's defense held firm, picking up a pair of turnovers and receiving saves from senior
Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and sophomore
Bailey Pilder (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan). The Bullets entered the half with a 13-4 lead.
Jaeger, Willis, and McClain completed their hat tricks as part of a 4-0 run to start the final stanza. Pilder recorded a pair of saves during the run as Gettysburg surged ahead 17-4 with 15 minutes left.
Gettysburg led in shots (32-16), ground balls (12-11), and draw controls (17-9).

Maggie Welsh (Rye, N.Y./Holy Child) and freshman
Rebekah Riley (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) each tossed in a pair of goals for the Bullets. Junior
Cassie Smith (Phoenix, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) totaled two ground balls, one caused turnover, and four draw controls.
Gettysburg hosts Washington this Saturday at 1 p.m. The team will honor its five seniors – Jaeger, Keeler,
Emma Christie (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich),
Macauley Mikes (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), and
Katelyn Neillands (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) - prior to the start of the game.
