Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A dozen players hit the scoring column for No. 5 Gettysburg College in an 18-0 victory over Swarthmore College Saturday afternoon at Clark Field.

Gettysburg (10-2, 3-1 CC) kept its momentum going following a victory over top-ranked Franklin & Marshall College earlier in the week. The Bullets tallied 11 goals in the opening 18 minutes of play against Swarthmore (6-4, 1-3 CC) with three coming from senior Emma Christie (Cos Cobb, Conn./Greenwich). Freshman Liza Barr (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) scored the final goal of the first half to make it 12-0.

The hosts took a patient approach to the attack in the second half with freshmen Maria Nemeth (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and Ella Orzechowski (Elkridge, Md./Howard) accounting for five of the six goals. Nemeth polished off her first career hat trick at 12:13, while Orzechowski posted the game's final goal with 9:25 to play.

Gettysburg's defense held Swarthmore to just eight shots and forced a dozen turnovers by the Garnet. The Bullets also held a 15-5 edge in draw controls.

Christie and Nemeth each contributed three goals, while junior Katie Willis (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and Orzechowski turned in a pair of goals. Barr and junior Maggie McClain (Wexford, Pa./Sewickley Academy) each recorded a goal and two assists.

Defensively, 10 Bullets picked up ground balls and six logged cause turnovers. Freshman Daphne Budd (Darien, Conn./Darien) led the way with three ground balls, while Barr, junior Ali Gorab (Southport, Conn./Ludlowe) and freshmen Kyle Burke (Cohasset, Mass./Hingham) and Abbie Lee (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) all contributed two ground balls.

All four Gettysburg goalies saw time between the pipes. Senior Shannon Keeler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) posted two saves in the first 15:42 to earn her 56th career win. Keeler is now just two wins shy of the program's all-time mark. Lee posted a pair of stops in the final 16 minutes.

Gettysburg visits Haverford College next Saturday at noon.
