GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Once again, Gettysburg College will serve as the host for the Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship this weekend at Clark Field.
Gettysburg (15-2, 8-1 CC) clinched the top seed for the conference playoffs and will host the postseason event for the ninth time since 2001 and the sixth time in the last eight years.
Joining the Bullets in the playoffs will be Franklin & Marshall College (14-4, 8-1 CC), Muhlenberg College (13-3, 7-2 CC), Dickinson College (9-7, 6-3 CC), and Washington College (10-6, 5-4 CC). Dickinson will host Washington in the first round contest on Wednesday, May 3, at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to face Gettysburg in the semifinals on Saturday, May 6, at noon. Franklin & Marshall and Muhlenberg will compete in Saturday's second semifinal at 3 p.m.
The two semifinal winners will compete in the CC championship game Sunday at 3 p.m. The champion will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall have won every conference title since 2002. The Orange and Blue lead the way with 10 championships overall, while the Blue and White have won six titles. The two teams have also met in the championship finale in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
Gettysburg has qualified for all 17 conference tournaments, while Franklin & Marshall is in the postseason for the 16th time. Washington is making its 10th showing, Dickinson its eighth, and Muhlenberg its fifth. Washington is the only team other than Gettysburg and Franklin & Marshall to make the finals in this year's field, accomplishing the feat in 2012.
The Bullets captured the Centennial crown last spring at Tylus Field in Lancaster, Pa. After dispatching Washington College 10-4 in the semis, Gettysburg took down host Franklin & Marshall 6-5 in the title game.
