GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College will welcome Moravian College for a Centennial Conference outing as both programs join college football teams across the nation in support of the Coach to Cure MD program this Saturday.
OPENING KICKOFF
Gettysburg (0-4, 0-3 CC) and Moravian (0-4, 0-3 CC) seek their first wins of the season this weekend. The Bullets have suffered four heartbreaking losses by a combined 20 points, including last weekend's overtime decision at McDaniel College. After a close loss to King's (Pa.) College to start the year, the Greyhounds have lost their three Centennial Conference contests by at least 18 points.

COACH TO CURE MD
The Coach to Cure MD program focuses on the battle against Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has raised more than $1.5 million as it heads into its 10th year. More than 600 schools and 11,000 coaches are participating in the program with coaches wearing the logo patch on the sidelines. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood, primarily affecting boys of all races and cultures. THE SERIES
Gettysburg holds an 11-4 advantage in the series with Moravian. The two programs met five times from 1978-82 with the Bullets coming out victorious in four contests. When the series resumed in 2007, Gettysburg ran off six consecutive wins before a three-game win streak by the Greyhounds. The Bullets won last fall's meeting by scoring a series high 52 points.

Junior
Ty Abdul-Karim (Washington, D.C./Woodberry Forest (Va.)) posted 214 receiving yards and three touchdowns to lead Gettysburg past Moravian 52-21 at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium last fall. The Bullets racked up a season-high 620 yards of offense with Abdul-Karim hauling in touchdown catches covering 87 yards, 46 yards, and 64 yards. Senior quarterback

McDaniel slipped by Gettysburg 27-20 in overtime last weekend. Trailing 20-6 in the fourth quarter, the Bullets rallied with a pair of rushing touchdowns by senior quarterback
Justin Davidov to tie the game. The Green Terror scored on the second play of overtime, while Gettysburg was unable to answer. Davidov finished 14-of-38 for 169 yards and added 34 yards rushing. Freshman

SCOUTING MORAVIAN
Moravian is coming off a 35-17 loss to Ursinus last Saturday. The Bears jumped out with the first two scores before a 23-yard run by junior Eli Redmond put the Greyhounds on the board late in the first quarter. Moravian pulled to 14-10 by the end of the first half, but Ursinus posted the first two touchdowns of the second half to leap away. Redmond finished with 135 yards on 23 carries for his first 100-yard rushing effort in two years. Freshman
Doug Erney finished 21-of-33 for 177 yards and
Ricky Tate hauled in six passes for 57 yards. Junior
Nick Zambelli led the defense with 12 tackles and a forced fumble. Moravian ranks last in the conference in total offense (310.8 ypg) and first downs (65). Erney has connected on 59 percent of his pass attempts in his first collegiate season and he's picked up 250 yards on the ground. Redmond paces the rushing attack with 272 yards. Freshman
Jackson Buskirk leads the way with 39 tackles, while junior
Nick Tone has posted 21 stops and two hits on the quarterback.
AT THE HELM
Barry Streeter enters his 39th season at the helm of Gettysburg's football program and his 42nd overall at the institution. Streeter is the longest-tenured active coach in Division III and ranks second in longevity among all current NCAA football coaches. With 193 career wins, Streeter ranks 10th among active Division III coaches. Streeter has led Gettysburg to three Centennial Conference championships (1983-85) and he has twice been named CC Coach of the Year. In 1985, he led the Bullets to the only undefeated regular season in school history (9-0-1) and an appearance in the national semifinals. Streeter is a 1971 graduate of Lebanon Valley and is a member of the Dutchmen's Hall of Fame.
GETTYSBURG OFFENSE
Gettysburg is averaging 155.5 yards rushing and 207.5 yards passing this season. Freshman
Reggie JeanCharles tops all conference rookies and ranks fourth overall with 86.3 rushing yards per game. Senior
Justin Davidov is one of the Centennial's top rushing quarterbacks with 207 yards and four touchdowns. Davidov has also thrown for 769 yards and three scores. His top target has been freshman
Cole Menas (Keedysville, Md./Saint James) who has 11 receptions for 97 yards. Senior
Ryan Thompson (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) has caught a pair of touchdowns and is averaging 21.5 yards per catch.
GETTYSBURG DEFENSE
Gettysburg is tied atop the conference with 16 sacks this season. Junior
Logan Aikey (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) leads the team with 3.5 sacks, while senior
Dakota Brovero (Monroeville, N.J./Delsea) and junior
Matt Graziano (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley) each have three. Aikey ranks second in the CC with eight tackles for a loss. Junior
Mike McKnight leads the team with 38 tackles and he's tied for the team lead with six pass break-ups. Freshman
Thomeir Richardson (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) has totaled 22 tackles, six pass break-ups, one interception, and two fumble recoveries.
GETTYSBURG SPECIAL TEAMS
Sophomore
Justin Geisel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day School) has hit four field goals this season, three of which have gone for at least 38 yards. He is also averaging 59.6 yards on kickoffs. Sophomore
Evan Tannenbaum (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) is averaging 33.9 yards per punt and has placed seven punts inside the opponent's 20-yardline. Freshman
Thomeir Richardson has averaged 20.8 yards per kickoff return with a long of 34 yards.
DUAL THREAT
Senior quarterback
Justin Davidov is on the cusp of joining an elite club at Gettysburg. Davidov is just 90 rushing yards away from becoming the fourth Bullet signal caller to post 1,000 in a career. The others are
Matt Flynn '10 (1,128),
Kody Smith '13 (1,066), and
Joe Gossweiler '05 (1,056). Davidov could also join that trio as a member of the 2,000-passing yard, 1,000-rushing yard club in the near future. The Gettysburg senior currently has 1,823 career passing yards entering the weekend.
BLOCKED KICKS
Gettysburg swatted a pair of kick attempts in the season opener. Senior
Dakota Brovero blocked an extra point and classmate
Andrew Major (St. Davids, Pa./Radnor) denied a 30-yard field goal. It was Major's third career blocked kick and first since his freshman season. It was also the first time Gettysburg managed two blocked kicks in the same game since beating Misericordia in 2013.
ROOKIE RUSHER
With 170 rushing yards against Ursinus, freshman
Reggie JeanCharles posted the best rushing day by a first-year tailback since
Tom Sturges '08 went for 180 against Ursinus on Oct. 23, 2004. The most rushing yards in a game by a Gettysburg freshman was 242 by
Paul Smith '00 against Swarthmore in 1996. Smith also holds the program record for rushing yards by a freshman with 888 in 1996. Smith and JeanCharles are both graduates of the same high school – Holy Spirit – in Absecon, N.J.
IN THE ARMY NOW
Six members of the Gettysburg community took the Oath of Enlistment into the Army prior to the game against Dickinson, including sophomore football player
Tyrus Legenski (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional). All of the cadets received full tuition and fee scholarships for college valued between $100,000-200,000.
