GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Bridgewater College won five of six singles bouts to overcome an early deficit and beat Gettysburg College 6-3 in non-conference men's tennis action on Monday.
 
Gettysburg (2-1) jumped out to the early lead with a pair of wins in doubles play. Senior Kevin Maier (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) and junior Mike Mills (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) took down Canon Secord and Cole Pawlak 8-3 at the top flight. Senior's Nick D'Amore (Scotch Plains, N.J./Wardlaw-Hartridge) and Andrew Corwin (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) gave the Bullets a 2-1 lead with an 8-5 win at the second flight.
 
Sophomore Tommy Gilio (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) accounted for the host's lone singles win, grinding out a super-tiebreaker to claim a 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 10-7 win over Matthew Gordon at the fifth position.
 
Corwin rebounded from a first-set loss to win the second contest 6-1, but the senior fell short in the tiebreaker against Nathaniel Horner in a 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 decision at No. 4. Mills jumped out with a first-set win over Freddie Roberts, but the Gettysburg junior was forced to retire due to injury in the second set.
 
Gettysburg closes out its fall campaign at home against York (Pa.) College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
