BALTIMORE – Gettysburg College opened the night on a positive note with a victory in the first set, but Johns Hopkins University came back to take the next three and clinch a 3-1 decision in Centennial Conference volleyball action inside Goldfarb Gym Wednesday.
Gettysburg (16-7, 4-5 CC) took the opening set 25-22 before Johns Hopkins (18-6, 8-1 CC) won the next three 25-16, 25-23, and 25-18. The Blue Jays hit .312 and accounted for nine team blocks in the match. The setback knocked the Bullets out of postseason contention.
Junior
Caroline Sequeira (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) extended her program-record streak of 20-dig matches to eight with a match-high 23. Sequeira enters the final weekend of the regular season as the Centennial leader in digs per set at 5.68.
Sophomore
Allie Stranick (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy) picked up her sixth-straight and 12th overall double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs for the Bullets. Junior
Francesca Garison (Metuchen, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) posted nine kills and classmate
Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) added seven kills.
Louisa Kishton recorded 20 kills to lead the Blue Jays. Simone Bliss added 12 kills and Michelle Abt tallied 10 kills and 13 digs. Nicole Hada dished out 44 assists and put up 14 digs.
Gettysburg closes the season at Dickinson College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
