CARLISLE, Pa. – Gettysburg erased a 12-point second-half deficit to force overtime, but Dickinson outscored the Bullets 15-3 in the extra session to hold on for a 63-51 victory in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Wednesday evening.
Â
The Bullets (6-16, 4-11 CC) mounted their comeback late in the second half, holding the Red Devils (13-9, 9-6 CC) to just five points over the final 12 and a half minutes of regulation. Gettysburg limited Dickinson to just 15 points in the second half, when the Devils shot just 23.1 percent from the field.

Sophomore guard
Nick Antolini (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) led Gettysburg with 14 points and seven rebounds while shooting 4-for-8 from 3-point range. Senior forward
Cameron Stewart (Sydney, Australia/Newington College) added 11 points and six rebounds while freshman forward
Chris Jack (Reckange-Sur-Mess, Luxembourg/Hun School) scored a season-high 10 points off the bench. Senior forward

Â

Â
Gettysburg trailed 43-33 with 12:29 left before climbing back into it with its late defensive stand. Jack capped an 8-0 run by making four straight free throws, pulling the Bullets within 43-41 with 7:25 left.
Â
Allen snapped nearly a six-minute Dickinson scoring drought with a jumper for the Red Devils, but the Bullets came right back with a 7-0 spurt to assume a three-point lead with 3:35 remaining. Antolini canned his final triple of the night, then knocked down a jumper to hand his team its first lead since the opening minutes of the game. Jack followed with two more foul shots to make it a 48-45 game.
Â
Hinckley made the second of two foul shots with 1:58 to go before the Bullets missed a 3-pointer at the other end. Melton tied it with a jumper for Dickinson with 1:06 on the clock, and after Gettysburg misfired on its next possession, the two sides traded turnovers. The Red Devils received the ball with 2.8 seconds left but had to go full court and were unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.
Â
Dickinson dialed long distance in overtime, nailing three straight 3-pointers, with two coming from Allen, to go up 57-48 with 2:22 left. Stewart snapped the Dickinson run by going 1-for-2 at the foul line with 2:03 left, but that was the only point the Bullets would manage in the period until Jack dropped in a lay-up with six seconds left to set the final score.
Â
It was a close game in the opening half, when neither team led by more than seven. The Bullets jumped to an early 5-0 lead, only to see Dickinson respond with a 10-0 run.
Â
Antolini nailed three of his 3-pointers in the opening 10 minutes, and his final 3-ball pulled Gettysburg within 15-13. But the Red Devils would nudge their lead to seven when Hinckley connected for a 3 with 10:07 left in the half.
Â
Gettysburg answered with the next five points, as a 3 from England and a driving lay-up from Antolini made it 28-26 with 1:43 to go. However, Dickinson ended the half on a 5-0 spurt, getting a Chris McNeal lay-up and a 3 from Justus Melton at the buzzer to make it a 33-26 game at the break.
Â
The Devils continued their run in the second half, as a Hinckley jumper and a Romocki 3-pointer gave the hosts their largest lead (38-26) up until that point. But the Bullets came right back with a 6-0 spurt, as a lay-up from junior center
Luke Cooper (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and back-to-back buckets from Stewart made it a six-point game (38-32).
Â
Dickinson pushed its lead back to 10 before the Bullets embarked on their rally.
Â
Gettysburg continues its season on Saturday, when it hosts Muhlenberg at 2 p.m. on Senior Day in another Centennial Conference match-up.
