HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team suffered a setback by the slimmest of margins against Berry College in its second spring outing on Tuesday.
For the second consecutive match, Gettysburg (0-4) fell 5-4 with the deciding point coming down to a tiebreaker in singles play. The Bullets kept it close in doubles as sophomore

Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) came out on top at the first position 8-5. An 8-6 win at the third flight gave Berry (3-1) a 2-1 edge heading into singles.
Vinges cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 and junior
Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) earned a 6-3, 6-3 in her season debut at the top spot. A third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 put Berry back in front, but senior
Erin Sweeney (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) knotted things up with a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles.
The final team point came down to fifth singles where junior
Maddie Class (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) waged a war with Karleigh Dills. Class won the opening set 6-4, but Dills rebounded to win a second-set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5) and closed with a 10-8 decision in the clinching tiebreaker.
Gettysburg meets Stockton University Wednesday at noon.
