Match Summary
- First Set: The opposing attacks struggled to connect with the court floor in the opening set, combining for 15 hitting errors, seven of which came as the result of blocks. Trailing 9-6, the Bullets emerged out of a timeout with renewed energy and quickly stole the lead with a 4-0 run. Gettysburg's advantage jumped to 17-12 on a smash by senior Ingrid Bayer (Falls Church, Va./Bishop O'Connell) and remained a five-point advantage (21-16) on another kill by Bayer. The Mules closed the gap to 22-20, but another well-timed pause in action from a timeout set the Bullets on the winning path with back-to-back kills by senior Jordyn Horowitz (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) and Wilt followed by an ace by sophomore Callie Pidoriano (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson).
- Set Two: Gettysburg did not hold the lead until point 51 in the second contest. Muhlenberg led for the majority of the set and forced Gettysburg to take its second timeout after an ace by Oehler made it 18-12. The Mules led 20-13 before the hosts went on the comeback trail, eventually working the score to 23-20 and drawing a timeout from the visitors. The Mules held set point at 24-22 and 25-24, but Gettysburg rallied with kills by Kuba-McCoy tying the score on both occasions. Kuba-McCoy put Gettysburg ahead with a kill to make it 28-27 and the junior polished off the win with a serve that clipped the net and landed in the middle of the defense for an ace.
- Set Three: Gettysburg never trailed in the finale and jumped in front 10-4 on a kill by Ulrich. Muhlenberg went down swinging, however, slicing the deficit down to two at 13-11 and working it down to a point at 21-20. After an attack error by the Mules, Kuba-McCoy and Bayer stuffed another attack to push the lead to 23-20. Gettysburg closed out the win with a service error by the visitors.
