GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Shelby Baker (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) belted her second career grand slam and
Olivia Moser (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) blasted a solo home run in the opening game and the Gettysburg College (11-3) softball team wrapped up the regular season with a sweep of McDaniel College (7-9) at Bobby Jones Field on Sunday.
The Bullets won game one in six innings, 12-3, and registered the nightcap by the final score of 7-3.
There was also a trophy presentation to honor Gettysburg as the 2021 Centennial Conference champions. The Bullets captured this year's conference title based on having the best winning percentage of .700 (7-3 CC record) in regular-season play. The Centennial Conference decided there would be no championship tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gettysburg has now claimed five CC titles overall with two occurring in the last four years. By capturing the conference crown, the Bullets earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Regional Championship.
The Bullets will find out who they play in the NCAA tournament when the selection show airs on Monday, May 17 at 1 p.m. on
NCAA.com.
Before the first game, seniors Baker and
Emily Colline (Bridgewater, N.J./Immaculata) were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the program.
