Game Summary
  • Moravian jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second and maintained the advantage until the bottom of the third.
  • Gettysburg went red-hot from the plate in the bottom of the third by scoring five runs on four hits. With one out, Smith reached first on a Greyhound error and then advanced to second on a stolen base. Komst came to the plate and blasted a rocket that hit the top of the fence and bounced outside the fence to register her first career home run. Sophomore Olivia Moser (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) corralled her first triple of the season to right center that was followed up with an RBI single by senior Emily Colline (Bridgewater, N.J./Immaculata). The scoring spree didn't end there as Baker blasted a two-run homer to put the Bullets ahead 5-3.
  • The Greyhounds bounced back by accumulating a three-run dinger in the top of the fifth to tie it up at 5-5.
  • Gettysburg battled back as Baker busted the bats once again as she posted her second homer in the bottom of the fifth to put the squad back in front by two, 7-5.
  • An RBI single by Komst made it an 8-5 contest in the bottom of the sixth.
  • The Bullets defense was clutch in the sixth and seventh as the Greyhounds went three up, three down to lift Gettysburg past Moravian.
Quote by the Coach
"You're playing a top-10 ranked team who's been ranked all year," said head coach Annette Hunt-Shepherd. "Our players came out and knew they had 21 outs and needed to make the best of it. I can't say enough about their approach and how they just played for one another. I'm just so proud of them."

By the Numbers
  • Baker became the all-time leader in program history in home runs with 16 in 104 games played. She becomes the second player to notch two or more home runs in a game since Mykaela Twitchell smashed three in a game during the 2016 season.
  • The Bullets defeated a top-10 ranked team for the second time in three seasons. Gettysburg took down No. 10 Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. during the 2019 season.
  • Hughes improves to a 7-3 record from the circle. This season, she has tossed 35 strikeouts.
  • Moser, Komst, and Baker have all logged in one or more home runs during the NCAA regional.
  • Gettysburg's three home runs marked the most in a game this season.
Where the Series Stands
