How It Happened…
  • First Half: With yesterday's game being postponed to today due to inclement weather, the slight breezy, sunny, and mid 70's temperature served as a picture-perfect day for a contest. Gettysburg took control early as they attempted a pair of shots within the first 10 minutes. Stevenson's Angel Zelaya attempted a shot on goal in the 13th minute, but sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Muhic (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) stopped what ended up being his lone save of the game. Giquinto produced his second career assist at the 17-minute marker as he dished off a pass from the right side of the field to Carroll, who finished the cross into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The Bullets had another great look on goal with 29:08 on the clock, beating the Mustangs goalkeeper, but a defender stopped the ball from going into the net for the team save.
  • Second Half: The Bullets started down in the Mustangs territory with two corner kicks, a shot by senior Jonathan Molina (Adelphi, Md. DeMatha Catholic) that sailed high, and another by Carroll that turned into the second goal. Carroll faked out a defender to slip the ball perfectly into the lower right corner for his second tally of the game 13 minutes into the second half. Gettysburg's defense limited Stevenson to just two shots in the half to collect its fourth victory and second shutout of the season.
By the Numbers
  • Gettysburg finished the contest by outshooting Stevenson 13-3 and held the 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Muhic notched his second clean sheet of the season.
  • Carroll recorded his first two-goal performance of his career.
  • The Orange and Blue rank seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Region V poll.
