THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Jack Carroll (Leonia, N.J./Bergen Catholic) was on the end of a give-and-go with
Connor Fife (Newtown, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) for the game's first tally. Carroll came down the field before passing to Fife at the top of the box, who tapped it right back to his teammate and Carroll blasted a shot into the upper 90 in the 17th minute.
• Nearly 10 minutes later, Fife put home a rebound off an
Athi Msiza (Gauteng, South Africa/Berkshire School) shot-and-save for a 2-0 advantage.
• A foul in the corner of the box led to a penalty kick in the 29th minute, which Nick Starr buried to break up the shutout.
•
Pape Diallo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Proctor Academy) played a ball to
Chase Sempervive, who was able to poke it home to re-establish the two-goal lead with 3:40 to play in the opening half.
• With McDaniel playing down a man for the entire second half, Sempervive finished his second of the night.
Aidan Giquinto (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee) had his initial shot saved before tracking the ball down on the endline and centering the ball past the keeper to a waiting Sempervive for the final margin in the 79th minute.
