Christopher Newport, the top-ranked team in Division III in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, found the back of the net in the 72nd minute for the game's lone goal, defeating Gettysburg, 1-0.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Both teams had at least one good look at a goal in the first half but could not find the back of the net. The best look of the first 70 minutes came from Gettysburg in the 61st minute. Christopher Newport was called for a foul in the box, giving the Bullets a penalty kick but the attempt bounced off the crossbar to keep it a scoreless contest.
• The Captains countered 11 minutes later when Emma Ricci made a move past a couple of defenders at the top of the box before blasting a shot into the left half of the net for the game's lone tally.

• Christopher Newport posted its fifth straight one-goal win and eighth shutout of the season.
• The Captains finished with a 17-7 advantage in shots and 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
