HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team's perfect run to start the season was punctured by Lake Forest College in a tight 5-4 contest on Wednesday morning in a non-conference match during spring break for both schools.
 
The Bullets (5-1) showed superiority at the top of the lineup, but the Foresters' depth proved to be the difference.
 
Lake Forest (5-4) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles, picking up wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Gettysburg's No. 2 team of freshmen Michael Fellman (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) and Hayden Strittmatter (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) were 8-6 victors over Zach Cho and Kyle Lassen.
 
Gettysburg swept the top three singles positions, led at No. 1 by Fellman's hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) win over junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk. Alex Kagan (Guilford, Ct./Guilford) pulled out a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) decision at No. 2, while fellow sophomore Michael Zayneh (Hilton Head Island, S.C./Heritage Academy) continued to enjoy home cooking, cruising past Cho 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
 
Keying the Foresters was Eduardo Manuitt's 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-2) win over sophomore Jeffrey Seybolt (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) at No. 5 singles. Lake Forest, which is in the northern Chicago suburbs, picked up straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.

The Bullets return to the courts in Hilton Head Thursday afternoon against Ohio Northern to wrap up the southern swing. They'll open the Centennial Conference season at Swarthmore on March 19.
