Box Score Gettysburg, Pa. - Visiting Franklin & Marshall College swept doubles competition before winning five of six singles matches to post an 8-1 victory over Gettysburg College in Centennial Conference men's tennis action on Wednesday at the Bullets Tennis Courts.
 
Sophomore Michael Zayneh (Hilton Head Island, S.C./Heritage Academy) earned the lone point of the match for the Bullets (7-7, 1-5 CC) with a win at No. 3 singles. Zayneh topped his opponent, Tristan Steffe, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, for his 11th singles win of the season.
 
The Diplomats (6-5, 3-3 CC) jumped out to a 3-0 advantage on Wednesday by winning all three doubles matches. 
 
Freshman Michael Fellman (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) and junior Matt Rau (Castle Rock, Col./Regis Jesuit) battled Steffe and Justin Pace tightly at No. 2 doubles but ultimately fell, 8-5.
 
The visitors were also victorious at No. 1, 8-2, and at No. 3, 8-0, to hold the advantage heading into singles action.
 
The top three singles matches were tightly contested affairs, including three-set thrillers at the top two flights that ultimately ended in favor of Franklin & Marshall.
 
Adrian Charchalis slipped past sophomore Alex Kagan (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) at No. 1, 7-5, 2-6, 10-6, while Pace edged Fellman at No. 2, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8.
 
Following Zayneh's win at No. 3, the Diplomats won the final three singles matches in straight sets, dropping just three games in those contests.
 
Gettysburg will resume Centennial Conference play next Tuesday when it travels to Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins University in a match slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
